So it's been an eventful time. All manner of the usual End of Year, Christmas and New Year's loonyness. A few photos below. And then it went wierd. Keep scrolling down.

Christmas Lunch with the Company. Can you tell the kind of weather a sydney summer involves. God I love it!

The week I got back went and hung out with Lynda for a day. Over to Manly on the ferry to eat fish and chips. Idylic.

Just before Christmas, the entire Imperial Slacks crew took over the place for their annual 'Cobber Cabaret'. Which basically consists of a whole bunch of friends who used to live together in a warehouse space some years ago, getting together and having fun. The concept is - everybody has to do some kind of performance be it dance, music, comedy - whatever. And because it's totally low key (friends only audience) and it's a very talented bunch of people almost all of which are performers or artists- it was totally amazing.

Included everything from solo guitar pieces, hysterical silly comedy routines, to an incredible Tango piece;

...and even getting the whole room to do 'booty aerobics'.

Great fun!

My contribution to this was a story about Mr Thankyou very much, his passing away and his legacy for Surry Hills.

I'm told it was very moving. And hey - if there's one thing I CAN do - it's tell a story.

Christmas was a pretty low key affair, about 10 friends for dinner on Christmas eve. Unfortunately I didn't get any good photos. But hey...

Then - N.Y.E. After some agonising about whether I should actually put anything on this year because of the apparent dearth of options, Sydney actually turned out some good little parties to pick and choose from.

So instead of running around like an idiot organising things - this year I managed to run around like an idiot getting drunk with my friends.
Damn good fun.

Sumu and I DJ'ed at the Lan Franchies party which was hysterical. Not only because I managed to keep my white fur coat on the whole night despite the heat, but also because as we played, the entire power system, sound system, and out gear kept on either cutting out, turning off or catching fire. About every 20 minutes. So it was a totally par for the course Dan and Sumu controlled chaos special. Very Funny. At one point we actually had smoke pouring out of speakers.

heh heh...

Sumu doing damage on the 'wheels of steel' (not the bottle of Moet - heh heh...)

Hands in the air...

Alex running around like a trooper trying to prevent the entire city block either blowing up or catching fire...

Yep - I didn't take it off all night.

Acting like a complete wally!

Then of course, my Birthday. Sumu had organised a 'surprise' party for me in a lovely private lounge at a really good tapas restaurant/bar on King St. About 30 people - and all the usual shenigans. Fun. Sunrise saw Justin, Brownie, Laura and Dan from London, and Myself lolling around in Victoria park, and then we finally wound up on the penthouse hotel room that Laura and Dan were staying in on Tailor Square. Again - please check out that weather.

So then about a weeks later back at the Lan Franchies, Sumu and I Dj'ed at the Gang Launch party, this time the set was perfect - nothing blew up except the dancefloor and it was all good. At About 1:30am I left with Iris and her friend to go back to the Prebytery, then realising I needed cigarettes, waved the girls off as they headed up Abercrombie St, and headed up the road towards the Petrol Station to buy some smokes.

And that's when it all went bad.

I can't remember very much of the actual incident, apparently (an eyewitness from 100m away) says it was two big guys who came out of the blue, hit me a few times - I guess I was down pretty quick - then grabbed my bag (which I vaguely remember trying to tug back from them whilst on the ground) and took off. Wham bam - all happened real fast.

Practical upshot:

1 bag stolen containing digital camera and entire Dj'ing CD wallet.

1 buised face and minor grazes over various parts of my body.

1 broken leg.

Bugger.
So here's the pic that Sumu took having just arrived at the hospital, (managed to retain my phone, $140 cash and credit cards - probably because I was making more of a fuss than it was worth to them...).

So ever since I've been On crutches, and watching Summer pass me by. Bugger. Crutches are a major pain.

Here's my advertisement for my nurse. heh heh...

I did however manage to get down to Melbourne last weekend for Georgina's 30th birthday. Every shred of common sense told me I shouldn't go, but a/ I had PROMISED her some months previously that I would be there b/ She phoned me at a weak moment - highly medicated on painkillers and booze, and with ready access to a credit card and a laptop connected to the internet. And thus was my fate sealed. She had hired a beautiful huge house on Great Ocean Road overlooking the beach, and about 12 people filled the house with booze, amazing food and fun. Awesome time. Waited on hand and foot. Roaring fire. Much hilarity, beautiful weather - and it was rare that I didn't have a glass of champagne, a cocktail , or both to hand. Lovely.
